Shrapnel – 10/29/11

Happy Saturday! We have a few administrative points to take care of.

  • Happy birthday to CBJ prospect Will Weber!
  • Congratulations to the St. Louis Cardinals and thanks for making Ryan Holtmann very happy.

Back to the business at hand, “The Coach” at CTF has some suggestions for use of the forwards.

The guys at Backhand shelf are giving some advice, and it looks like James Wisniewski might make an appearance, the frustration of scoring a bunch of goals but not getting on the score sheet, why Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is succeeding, and looking at the calls from New York fans to bring back Sean Avery.

The Dispatch takes some time to talk some more about Vinny Prospal, and discussion of why Scott Arniel has shuffled the deck, and the team’s need to beat up on another backup goalie.

Submitted without comment: It appears that Stinger took a trip to Colorado for another mascot’s birthday party.

Over at DBJ, he looks at the purge of youth, despite the fact that it was that very youth who helped create the team’s single victory so far, and Jeff Little writes an excellent companion piece wondering if the Jackets are wearing a blue collar identity or a choke chain.

Over at Puck Daddy we’ve got a chat with Nikolai Khabibulin, looking at the Sharksrecent domination of the Wings, some hockey hugs, the official announcement that the Nuge is staying in the NHL, Perry Pearn on keeping his head up despite being a scapegoat, why signing goalies to massive long term deals is a really risky proposition, Andy Sutton is an expert and could be headed for a Shanaban, and of course Jersey Fouls.

Popular Jackets entertainer Dancing Kevin has started a video blog, and LTL is afraid things are only going to get worse.
