Sergei Bobrovsky, Seth Jones named to 2017 NHL All Star Team

The Columbus Blue Jackets will have 2 representatives at the 2017 NHL All Star Game.

Sergei Bobrovsky has been named to the roster as one of two goaltenders selected. He currently sports 26 wins to his name, the most in the league, as well as a .931% save percentage to go along with a 2.00 goals against average, both of which are top five marks in the league. This will be Serge Bobrovsky’s second All Star game but first appearance (you’ll recall that he missed the opportunity to play in Columbus due to injury).

Seth Jones will also represent the Blue Jackets in Los Angeles. The mainstay of the Blue Jackets defensive corps, Jones has registered 7-11-18 in 23:03 minutes per night. He was recently named by Bobrovsky in an interview as the best skater on the team, and has been a steady hand on the first pairing since his arrival. Jones, playing his first full season in Columbus since being traded here last January, will be making his first All Star appearance.

Despite having so many forwards who rank among the scoring leaders in the NHL (Alexander Wennberg, Cam Atkinson, Nick Foligno, and Brandon Saad), NHL rules and a logjam among Metro division forwards (and the limit on six forwards being chosen as well as each team being required to have a representative) prevented any of them from being selected to the All Star team.

In addition, John Tortorella has been named as the coach of the Metropolitan Division All Star team. He was selected as a result of the Columbus Blue Jackets having the best points-earned percentage in the National Hockey League.

Congratulations to these Columbus Blue Jackets for the honor!
