Sergei Bobrovsky’s Play Has Allowed Columbus to take a 3-0 Series Lead

Sergei Bobrovsky struggled in the first period of game one Wednesday night. He allowed three goals in the first period and appeared to be rattled. After just squeaking into the playoffs, the Columbus Blue Jackets appeared destined for early exit.

That is, until the second period started.

Since the second period of game one, Sergei Bobrovsky has played lights out. He has saved 69 of 71 shots. He has posted a .972 save percentage en route to the Blue Jackets storming out to a three games to zero lead on the President’s Trophy winning Tampa Bay Lightning.

Bobrovsky was at his best in the third period of game three. With the Lightning getting offensive pressure and the Blue Jackets hanging on to a one goal lead, Bobrovsky came up with save after safe to keep the Lightning from tying the game before the Blue Jackets were able to put the game away with an empty netter with 59 seconds remaining. Bobrovsky made 17 saves in the third period to keep the game close.

If Sergei Bobrovsky keeps up his play, expect to see more celebrations like these:

Columbus and Tampa Bay face off in game four Tuesday night in Nationwide Arena.
