Savage Makes History, Kitchener Acquires Sherwood

After opening night, the Cleveland Monsters’ roster became a bit smaller. Scott Savage (D) and Bobby MacIntyre (F) were loaned to the Jacksonville Icemen of the ECHL. The Quad City Mallards received both Jacob Graves (D) and Ivan Kulbakov (G). While the Columbus Blue Jackets reassigned Kole Sherwood to the OHL’s Flint Firebirds.

Most of the players are doing well on their new teams.

Scott Savage made history when he scored the first ever Jacksonville Icemen goal on October 14th. In one game played this season, Savage has one goal, one assist, and a +1 rating.

Bobby MacIntyre has played in one game for the Icemen and has two penalty minutes.

Jacob Graves has been a great veteran presence on the Quad City Mallards thus far. In the first two games of the season, Graves has shut down prolific scorers and assisted a goal.

Ivan Kulbakov provided the Quad City Mallards with their first win of the season. In the Mallards’ 5-4 win over the Tulsa Oilers, Kulbakov stopped 27 shots and posted a .871 sav%.

On October 17th, the Kitchener Rangers acquired Kole Sherwood from the Flint Firebirds in exchange for draft picks in 2019 (2nd Round), 2020 (2nd, 5th round), and 2021 (3rd round). It’s clear the Firebirds are looking towards the future as Sherwood will be ineligible to play in the OHL next season.
