Goal Recap

The Monsters started the game off on the right side of the ice thanks to Markus Hannikainen.

Two minutes and 40 seconds into the first period, Hannikainen scored off of a feed from Daniel Zaar to put the Monsters on the board first.

Around the halfway mark of the first period, Wade Megan popped a shot from Kenny Agostino into the net to tie things up.

With a little over three minutes to play in the first, the Wolves took the lead for the first time in the game. Brad Malone scored the goal on a shot fired from the top of the left corner.

Malone would score his second goal of the night off of a deflection five and a half minutes into the second period. Wolves now had the 3-1 lead over the Monsters.

Thirty seconds later, Akim Aliu would sneak one past Jordan Binnington from below the goal line to put the Monsters within one.

Samuel Blais extended the Wolves lead with a little under 12 to play in the second. Three Monsters chased him and Alex Friesen down the ice. They couldn’t get to Blais in time.

Scooter Vaughan buried one from the left circle with a minute and 20 seconds left in the second to give the Wolves the 5-2 lead.

Not even a minute later, Kenny Agostino fired off a shot from the top of the right faceoff circle which flew directly under the crossbar.

At the start of the third period, the Monsters replaced Brad Thiessen with Michael Houser.

The Monsters managed to keep the Wolves from scoring in the third until almost eight minutes into the period. Kenny Agostino caught Houser off guard and fired the puck into the net to give the Wolves the 7-2 lead.

Halfway through the third period, Ryan Stanton managed to sneak one past Binnington to give the Monsters their third and final goal of the night.

But Wait! There’s More

Quick Thought

  • Three different teams came out to play after each intermission. Consistency-wise, this was not the best game for the Monsters.
  • One of the highlights for the  Monsters came in the third period when they only allowed the Wolves to fire off four shots on goal.    /
