The Monsters started things off on the right foot 7:30 in the first period. Kevin Stenlund fired off a beauty of a shot from the top of the right faceoff circle. The puck banged off the post and into the net behind Anthony Peters.
Unfortunately, Stenlund’s beautiful goal was the last Monsters’ goal of the night. The Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins went on to score four unanswered goals to beat the Monsters, 4-1.
Three minutes and 13 seconds into the second period Anthony Angello picked up a rebound and fired it through Jean-Francois Berube’s legs. It dinged off the post into the net.
Penguins broke the 1-1 tie with 13:02 left in the second period. No one was around to stop Jimmy Hayes from pushing a rebounded puck into the net. Everyone was focused on the right side of the net. He was posted on the left side.
Derek Grant helped the Penguins take the 3-1 lead over the Monsters with a little over nine minutes to play in the second period. He launched the puck towards the net and it dinged off the post behind Berube.
With two minutes to play in the game, Teddy Blueger stole the puck from the Monsters and fired it into the empty net. This goal sealed the deal for the Penguins as the Monsters just couldn’t fight back with such little time left on the clock.

Quick Thoughts
– The power play was incredibly dicey. They just couldn’t get the puck out of the defensive zone. Honestly, when they had the man advantage they looked like they were on the penalty kill.
– Nathan Gerbe was out there laying 6’6” sized hits. Players who had a good six inches on Gerbe were getting thrown off their game because of his massive hits.
– Eric Robinson continued to get double teamed by the Penguins. The worst part is he often had no one to help him out.
– Vitaly Abramov came up with a few big saves in the defensive zone tonight. It’s always nice to see a talented forward be able to help out when the defense falls down on the job.
– The Monsters won’t return to the Q until November 2nd. Head Coach John Madden is hoping this extended road trip will bring the team closer together.
