Goal Recap
The Cleveland Monsters shutout the Milwaukee Admirals, 5-0, tonight. Which means this goal recap is full of Monsters magic.
Terry Broadhurst kicked things off for the Monsters halfway through the first period.
In an attempt to get the puck away from Miles Koules, Frederic Allard tossed the puck a few feet in front of him. The puck landed on the stick of T. Broadhurst who fired it into the net for the goal.
Not even a minute later the Monsters extended their lead over the Admirals to 2-0.
Anders Lindback went behind the net to play the puck. Except the puck wasn’t there yet. It ended up bouncing off of the boards to left of where Lindback was located and out in front of the net. Brett Gallant came barreling in and knocked the puck into the unattended net.
The Monsters extended their lead to 3-0 over the Admirals 3:46 into the second period.
Justin Scott picked up a puck fumbled by the Admirals and raced towards the net. He went backhand to forehand before firing it into the net.
With 1:43 left in the second period, T. Broadhurst made it 4-0. Zac Dalpe and Alex Broadhurst had a beautiful pass sequence leading up to the goal.
The fifth and final goal of the evening was scored 4:01 into the third period.
Carter Camper fired a shot at Jake Paterson who blocked it with his leg. T. Broadhurst rebounded the puck and popped it into the net giving him a hattrick.
But Wait! There’s More
Quick Thoughts
- The Monsters played a full 60 minutes of hockey. They capitalized on every mistake the Admirals made during the game. They forced at least six turnovers and broke up five pivotal plays. The Monsters shut down every Admirals attempt to score.
- Until tonight, Jeff Zatkoff had not played a single game during the 2017-18 season. One would think he would be rusty after not having a go for over 40 games. However, he stood tall in tonight’s game. The saves Zatkoff made were both incredible and effortless. He trusted the defense to do their job and only left the crease when needed.
- Since coming back from his injury at the beginning of January, Terry Broadhurst has been positively consistent for the Monsters. The best part about T.Broadhurst is if he makes a mistake he knows how to immediately rectify the issue. I think it’s about time they make things official and turn his PTO into a SPC. /
