Goal Recap

The Chicago Wolves struck twice in the first period.

Joe Pendenza went to the box for hooking 5:45 into the game. 12 seconds into the Wolves’ power play Matiss Kivlenieks made an incredible save on Jason Garrison. Teemu Pulkkinen rushed into the crease to pick up the puck and pop it into the net.

The Wolves extended their lead with 7:34 left in the period. After receiving a pass from Jake Bischoff, Wade Megan took off towards the net. He fired and Kivlenieks kicked the puck away. Mackenzie MacEachern fires the rebound into the net.

The Cleveland Monsters cut the Wolves’ lead in half 7:05 into the second period. Nathan Gerbe launched a rocked from just below the blue line. Terry Broadhurst grabbed a piece of it as it entered the net.

Two minutes and 22 seconds later, TJ Tynan won the faceoff and got the puck to Jason Garrison. He passed the puck to Tomas Hyka who one-timed it into the net.

With 5:37 left in the second period, Carter Camper fired the puck across the ice to Alex Broadhurst who fired it home for the goal. The Monsters were now within one of the Wolves, 3-2.

A minute and a hal into the third period, the Wolves extended their lead to 4-2. Pulkkinen fired a shot from the left faceoff dot towards the net. Tynan poked it past Kivlenieks for the goal.

Three minutes later the Monsters cut the Wolves’ lead to 4-3.

Camper fired a shot from the right faceoff dot and T.Broadhurst redirected it into the net.

But Wait! There’s More

Quick Thoughts

  • Instead of continually making phenomenal blocks and kick  saves, Kivlenieks had to stuff the puck most of the night. Monsters  struggled with picking up rebounds. Kivlenieks couldn’t risk the Wolves scooping up a rebound.
  • Nick Moutrey made the trip with the Monsters and should be back  in the lineup sometime soon.
  • Honestly, the Monsters played very well tonight. They had a few minor issues but nothing serious. The Wolves just managed to get the best of them./
