Goal Recap
After getting shutout the night before, the Binghamton Devils were hoping to demolish the Cleveland Monsters. Instead, a second period explosion by the Monsters led Cleveland to shutout the Devils.
With 3:11 left in the second period, Zac Dalpe fired off a shot from the boards to the left of Cory Schneider. The puck sailed across the ice and into the net.
Not even a minute later, Gabriel Carlsson scooped up Kevin Stenlund’s rebound and slammed it into the net.
Paul Bittner extended the Monsters lead over the Devils. 3-0, with 1:24 to play in the second period. Vitaly Abramov passed the puck from the left circle to the right circle where Dalpe was waiting. Then Dalpe launched the puck towards Bittner who was sitting at the top of the crease. Bittner slammed the puck into the back of the net for the goal.
The Monsters sealed the deal with an empty netter by Nathan Gerbe with 49 seconds to play in the game.

Quick Thoughts
– Gabriel Carlsson had another outstanding night. Not only did he create plays and open up lanes, Carlsson also protected his teammates. He even stayed out of the crease and didn’t get in Matiss Kivlenieks’ line of vision. It appears Carlsson is finally settling into his role as a professional hockey player.
– Pretty sure the “D” in Zac Dalpe stands for dependable. Night in and night out he brings it all to the ice. You never have to guess what version of Dalpe is going to play that night. It’s always the best version.
– Yet again, the penalty kill was top notch. The Monsters were able to kill off a double minor with very few problems. Like I said before, the Monsters’ pk is already in mid season form.
