Recap: Blue Jackets 2 Canadiens 1

Columbus, off of an emotional and thrilling win against the Penguins on Thursday night, got to turn around and get right back after it, welcoming Atlantic division leaders Montreal to the confines of Nationwide Arena.

On social media night, many members of the Cannon were present (Stinerman and his wife, Ryan and friends, ladyfriend and I) and we were treated to … a hockey game.

Sam Gagner scored on the power play, Brandon Saad buried another, and the Blue Jackets rode Sergei Bobrovsky hard to eke the win out.

This was an ugly game. It was apparent to everyone that the team’s legs had given out by third period. Columbus absolutely hung on, but did just enough in the end to win the game.

Columbus heads into the break at 23-5-4. They’re on a 12 game winning streak, franchise record. They’re the only team with 50 points at Christmas. They’ve got points 14 straight, another franchise record. They sit atop the NHL 39% of the way through the year.

Merry Christmas, Jackets fans.
