QuickCap #55: Jackets Blank Caps, 3-0
Bob was good, Duclair scored and the Jackets beat Washington.
The Columbus Blue Jackets out-energyed the Washington Capitals en route to a 3-0 win on Tuesday at Nationwide Arena.
1st period
A lot of chances from the Blue Jackets, but ultimately Columbus was unable to put a goal on the board. It was, however, the Goon Show, as Tom Wilson was involved in a pair of incidents; one with throwing an elbow to Josh Anderson and another in which he and Artemi Panarin were called for offsetting penalties (which was crap but whatever) but it did give the chance for Bread to get in Wilson’s grill a bit. Which was rad.

2nd period
Columbus got on the board, thanks to a 3-on-1 rush that was finished off by a beauty of a dangle from Anthony Duclari. 1-0, CBJ.

The Jackets closed the period leading Washington in shots, 24-7. That...that is not a typo.
3rd Period
Columbus struck for the second goal of the game inside the final four minutes of the game on a beautiful rush through the neutral zone and a tic-tac-toe play from Nick Foligno to Seth Jones back to Foligno for the 2-0 lead.

The Captials were finally able to put something that amounts to pressure on the Jackets defense, doubling their shot output (thanks in part to a final-minute rush) before Bread put the final exclamation point on the evening with an empty net goal to solidify a 3-0 win.
I don’t care the circumstances, it’s always fun to beat Washington.
