Game #31 Recap: Jackets Dethrone Kings, 4-1

The Columbus Blue Jackets allowed the first goal of the game and proceeded to score four unanswered goals to beat the Los Angeles Kings, 4-1, to extend their perfect record on Thursdays. We need a hasthag or something for Thursday games.

First Period

The Kings got on the board first on something of a wicked backhanded wrister from Dustin Brown off a hand of Zach Werenski in front of the net to make it a 1-0 game early.

But, the lead was short lived as Lukas Sedlak put home a doorstep look of his own, tying the game at 1-1.

Five minutes later, Artemi Panarin snapped the tie from the faceoff circle, giving Columbus a lead they’d never relinquish.

Second Period

No, you’re not seeing a replay. This is the second goal of the game for Panarin, just from the exact same spot to give the Jackets a 3-1 lead. On the power play, no less!

Third Period

Josh Anderson etched his name on the score sheet on a goal you know Jonathan Quick wish he could doover.

The Jackets were able to put pressure on Quick all evening long, not only outshooting LA 41-30, but trying to slam the puck home right on the doorstep of the crease.

With the let down on Tuesday against Vancouver, even though LA is a bottom dwelling team, it’s still nice to see Columbus close out this victory. It’s been that kind of season where that isn’t a given, but tonight they got the job done.
