Quick Takes: Senators at Blue Jackets

Heading into the game, Zach Werenski was a gametime decision. He ultimately would play, and Dalton Prout would draw in for Scott Harrington. The Senators were facing health issues of their own, but it would not affect them in any serious ways.

The Blue Jackets controlled play for much of the first period, but found themselves trailing after the first 20 minutes. Kyle Turris was sprung on a breakaway by Erik Karlsson, and he buried the backhander behind Sergei Bobrovsky. Columbus played well, and found themselves unlucky to not be on the board.

The second period was garbage. Ottawa scored, the first and second lines were absolute tire fires, and Columbus seems to be refusing to move their legs. There’s nothing to say except “that was absolutely unacceptable.” 2-0 after 40.

The Jackets pressed hard for the duration of the third, but could not equalize. What a poor effort for 40 minutes.
