Quick Takes: Nashville Predators at Columbus Blue Jackets

After a debacle on Monday night in New York, the Columbus Blue Jackets returned home take on the Nashville Predators. Cam Atkinson returned to the lineup and Zac Dalpe took a seat. Joonas Korpisalo got the start opposite Pekka Rinne. Gabriel Carlsson returned as the seventh defenseman in the lineup, replacing Markus Hannikainen.

First Period

Despite taking a penalty in the first thirty seconds, the team started well. The Blue Jackets outshot the Predators 11-8 but remained tied at zero on the scoreboard.

Second Period

The Predators scored the only goal of the period after some puck watching by the Blue Jackets. Matt Irwin snuck into the zone and beat Korpisalo. At least it was even strength.

Third Period

Pierre-Luc Dubois stripped P.K. Subban and tied the game with 5 minutes gone in the period. For the second time in the game, however, the Blue Jackets failed to mark a wide open skater as Calle Jarnkrok potted the game winner without a Blue Jacket attempting to mark him. Victor Arvidsson iced the game with an empty net goal with under 30 seconds to go.
