Quick Takes – Jackets Set Franchise Record With 5-3 Win Over Flyers

In many ways the Jackets won this one almost in spite of themselves, but they don’t ask if it’s pretty before they hand over the points for the win.

After leaping out to an early lead thanks to goals by Sam Gagner and Cam Atkinson, the Jackets made a parade to the penalty box, giving the Flyers an opportunity to not only tie the game but take the lead.

The Jackets battled back thanks to Zach Werenski’s tying goal, a power play goal midway through the third from Brandon Dubinsky, and finally an empty net goal from Cam Atkinson to lock things down for the 5-3 victory.

The 44th win of the season sets a franchise record for victories, and with 94 points they’ve also eclipsed the records from both of Columbus’ previous playoff seasons.

And there’s still 14 games to go in the regular season.

Even if the game was a bit of a shitshow, that ain’t too shabby.

Oh.

And there’s that.
