Quick Takes: Jackets beat Flyers in OT, 2-1

Columbus came into this one desperate to avoid a three game losing streak after their franchise record-setting 16 game win streak.

Both teams were tenative – or fatigued? – in the first period and it was scoreless.

Columbus drew first blood with a David Savard goal halfway through the second period.

It looked like Columbus would escape with a narrow 1-0 win, until Philadelphia scored with 16.5 seconds left. Yes, that’s a second night in a row that Columbus surrendered a goal with 16 seconds left. This just tied the game, though, it didn’t cost the game.

In overtime, Columbus allowed no shots on goal. Halfway through the overtime period, Seth Jones forced a turnover, carried the puck down the ice, and fed Nick Foligno for the winner.

You can all exhale now.

That’s two more points in the Metro (though Philly goes home with one) and the 28th win. Last season? Win #28 came on March 8
