Quick Takes: Columbus Blue Jackets at Florida Panthers

Here’s our instant take on tonight’s game.

The Blue Jackets, looking to win their third game of four and second road game to open the season sought to spoil the celebrations at the BB&T Center. Here’s what unfolded.

First Period

The Blue Jackets jumped out to a 2-0 lead behind goals from Zach Werenski and Artemi Panarin. Werenski’s first point of the season came on a 5 on 3 for the club.

The Panthers cut the deficit to one with a goal with 19:49 gone in the first period as Evgenii Dadanov registered his first goal of the season.

Second Period

A goal by Anthony Duclair: good

Three goals for Florida: bad

Outshot by Florida 22-5 (not a typo): absolutely freaking hideously ugly

Third Period

Columbus won a period and a hockey game. Goals from Boone Jenner and Cam Atkinson saw the Jackets through.

Final

Columbus Blue Jackets 5 Florida Panthers 4
