Cleveland Monsters; 11-19-3-3, 28 points, .389 win%, 7th Central, 15th West

vs

Rockford IceHogs; 21-15-2-2, 46 points, .575 win%, 3rd Central, 5th West

After an extensive road trip, the Cleveland Monsters return home to take on the Rockford IceHogs. Coming into tonight’s game the IceHogs are riding a five-game point streak. While the Monsters are coming off of a big, much-needed win over the Griffins.

Both the IceHogs and Monsters have spent the season with struggling special teams. The Monsters have managed to climb out of the last spot in the league on the power play to the second to last spot. The IceHogs now sit in 30th on the power play. Their penalty kill units sit at 25th (CLE) and 26th (RFD).

It should be interesting to see what happens during the pp and pk tonight.

From a full season standpoint, Matthew Highmore and Carter Camper lead their team in points. However, Alex Broadhurst and Tomas Jurco lead their respective teams with six points apiece in the series.

The Monsters must keep an eye on Jurco. He always seems to end up in the right place at the right time when playing against Cleveland.

Laurent Dauphin is no longer on the team due to being traded to the Arizona Coyotes earlier this month. John Hayden (F) and Cody Franson (D) have joined the IceHogs since the two teams last saw each other on January 6th.

With Joonas Korpisalo back in Columbus, Matiss Kivlenieks will likely be the starting netminder for the Monsters.
