San Antonio Rampage, 29-25-10-0, 68 points, .531 win%, 6th Pacific, 12th West

The Cleveland Monsters roll into San Antonio this evening to take on the Rampage for the second time this season.

December 14th was the last time the two squads met. The Rampage were the clear better team in their 4-2 win over the Monsters.

Cleveland is flying high after a huge 6-5 overtime win over the Texas Stars. San Antonio dropped their last two games and are only 3-4-3-0 in their past 10 games. They are also fighting for a playoff spot.

Tonight’s game will be just as rough and tough as the rest of the games have been on the west coast trip.

Here are a few keys to opening the door to a Monsters win tonight.

  • Keep the turnovers and fumbled pucks to a minimum. The Rampage will descend swiftly upon any loose pucks. Once they take off down the ice, it will be hard to catch up.
  • With Zac Dalpe out for the  remainder of the season, everyone needs to step up and bring their “A” game to the ice. The Monsters are full of talented players. Now is the time to show management why they drafted and signed you  in the first place. Carpe Diem!!
  • Maintain the lead at all costs. The Monsters do not have a great record when trailing their  opponent. They are 4-17-2-1 when trailing after one. When trailing after 2… WAIT! WAIT! Put earmuffs on your kids’ ears and cover their eyes. They don’t need to be scarred by this next stat. When the Monsters trail their opponent after two period of play, they have a  record of 2-27-0-1. Yes, 2-27-0-1.
  • Make the penalties worth taking.I don’t mean make a person bleed. What I do mean is shine bright on the penalty kill. The Monsters need to show the Rampage they can  take them down with five players on the ice or three players on the ice.  /
