vs
Grand Rapids Griffins, 11-15-1-4, 27 points, .435 win%, 6th Central, 14th West
The Cleveland Monsters take on the defending Calder Cup Champions, Grand Rapids Griffins, in a back-to-back away-and-home series this weekend.
There is a lot riding on this weekend for both teams. The Monsters are looking to climb out of the bottom spot in the Central and West. While the Griffins are hoping to not swap places with the Monsters.
To jump into the sixth spot in the Central, the Monsters must walk away from the weekend with four points. These two have been mortal enemies since the inception of the Monsters 11 years ago. So, snatching all four points this weekend will be rather difficult for both teams.
The Monsters need to come into Friday and Saturday’s games like they did against the Iowa Wild on December 20th. They were confident, relaxed, and excited to play the game which lay in front of them.
As we have seen over the past few games, constantly taking penalties has constantly killed the Monsters momentum. It’s imperative they stay off the penalty kill. Once the Griffins get things cooking, it will be hard to turn things around.
