Cleveland Monsters; 12-19-3-3, 30 points, .405 win%, 7th Central, 15th West

vs

Rockford IceHogs; 21-15-2-3, 47 points, .573 win%, 3rd Central, 6th West

In Wednesday night’s win, the Monsters were a bit shaky in the first period. Come the second and third they were ready to go. They will need to start the first period strong tonight. The Rockford IceHogs are going to want to walk away from this series with a win.

Both teams are looking to extend their current streaks as well. The IceHogs are riding a six-game point streak. While the Monsters have finally won two games in a row.

Tommy Olczyk was recalled from his loan to the Indy Fuel (ECHL) by the IceHogs yesterday. His AHL debut may quite possibly be tonight. At 5’10” Olczyk is considered small for a forward but he is quick with a high hockey IQ. If he cracks the lineup tonight, it’s best to keep an eye on him.

Markus Hannikainen was assigned to the Monsters after last night’s Columbus Blue Jackets’ win. At this point, I’m unsure of what line Coach Madden will place him. The top line is pretty much set in stone and the second line is starting to mesh.
