The Cleveland Monsters and Grand Rapids Griffins meet for the first of four games this season. In the past, games between the two have been bloody and intense. I would expect no less out of them today. Especially since tough guy Joe Hicketts returns to their lineup. When he and Dominik Shine are on the ice it’s like watching the Bash Brothers play. It would be smart for the Monsters to play Brett Gallant to keep the two in line.
On the Monsters front, Sonny Milano returns to Cleveland today. My guess is he will play on the second or third line as the first is pretty much solidified right now.
This season the Griffins are a low scoring team with an abysmal power play. The Monsters have the same kind of power play but have been able to make offensive magic happen more often than not. Today will prove tough for the Monsters. The Griffins will throw everything they’ve got at the Monsters. It would be in Cleveland’s best interest to start a group of players with good scoring power and grit. So, Guys like Zac Dalpe, Eric Robinson, Brett Gallant, and Tommy Cross. This will send the message to the Griffins that the Monsters aren’t here to mess around.
