Cleveland Monsters, 18-16-1-3, 40 points, 4th Central, 10th West
vs
Milwaukee Admirals, 23-13-2-2, 50 points, 2nd Central, 4th West
After dropping three of their last four meetings, the Monsters are ready to sink the Milwaukee Admirals.
However, the Chicago Wolves just snapped the Milwaukee Admirals three-game win streak. The Admirals are on the prowl to start a brand new streak and solidify their second place spot in the central division.
2 Keys
Stay Off the Penalty Kill
Even thoughIt the Monsters have the 5th best penalty kill in the league, it would behoove them to take as few penalties as possible.
It takes a lot of energy to have a successful penalty kill. If a team keeps racking up penalties, at some point they are going to become tired and play a more lethargic game.
Also, an excessive amount of penalties put a lot of unneeded pressure on the goalies. Teams have a limited amount of goalies and it’s best to not wear them out.
Keep an Eye on the Unusual Suspects
Most teams initial reaction would be to spend all of their time trying to shut down Vladislav Kamenev, Matt White, Trevor Smith, and Alexandre Carrier.
In their past four meetings, the Monsters have proven guys like Adam Payerl, Trevor Murphy, and Kevin Fiala are extremely dangerous when left unattended. They may not notch a point during the game. What makes these specific Admirals dangerous is their ability to create plays and grab rebounds.
If the Monsters want to succeed tonight, they must spread the pressure evenly among the Admirals.
