This weekend the Cleveland Monsters and Hershey Bears play each other for the first time since the 2016 Calder Cup Finals. In case you have forgotten, the Monsters swept the Bears to win the Calder Cup helping break the championship curse in Cleveland.

The Monsters will have their chance to prove they are well on their way to bringing Cleveland another championship. If they can play well under the pressure to take down the runner ups from the 2016 Calder Cup, the Monsters will likely have a successful season.

The Bears are coming into the weekend with a shoddy power play and a less than average penalty kill. However, they are not to be taken lightly. When leading their opponent the Bears have a near perfect record. Hershey knows how to keep the good times rolling. On the other hand, the Bears get flustered when the game gets away from them. The best thing the Monsters could do tonight is maintain control of the game from start to finish.

The Monsters have scoring power in guys like Zac Dalpe and Eric Robinson. To keep in the game, they are going to need to bring a lot of aggression and protect themselves. The Bears are 17 games into their season and Tyler Lewington already has 54 penalty minutes. Liam O’Brien, Connor Hobbs, and Riley Barber all have 20+ pims. There is no doubt this game will be intense.
