After a prospects-laden roster lost to most of Buffalo’s NHL roster Monday, the Jackets bounced back and shutout the Blues in the Preseason Home Opener. Now, they look to build on that… *checks notes* …all-important preseason momentum. I just hope both teams have fun.
Jackets Notes
Only one roster move since the last game, with forward Luca Pinelli returned to the OHL’s Ottawa 67s. That leaves the camp roster at 47, with 24 cuts left before Opening Night. … Former Wolverines teammates Adam Fantilli and Gavin Brindley look to reunite as linemates tonight. … The Jackets’ marketing team is doing a series of scavenger hunts for a free jersey during the preseason, with the next one set to drop at some point today.
The Other Bench
The Capitals are 1-2 in the preseason so far, with losses to Philadelphia and Boston to start the week before beating New Jersey Wednesday. … This Capitals season is more or less just about Alexander Ovechkin beating Wayne Gretzky’s goals record. He’s 41 shy of the Great One’s 894 mark entering the year. … It’s the Caps’ 50th Anniversary season, and they announced the return of their second Reverse Retro as an Alternate for the year.
