Buffalo Sabres (2-2-0)

Notes

The Columbus Blue Jackets battle the Buffalo Sabres for the second time this preseason. Having lost 4-1 in the opener to Buffalo last Monday at Nationwide Arena, the scene now shifts to Clinton, New York for the 2018 Kraft Hockeyville USA 2018 game.

Columbus played a trio of games over the weekend. Blanked by the St. Louis Blues 3-0 Friday night in St. Louis, they followed that up with a 7-3 loss at the Pittsburgh Penguins Saturday, which saw Joonas Korpisalo get his first action, and Oliver Bjorkstrand net a hat trick. They finished the weekend Sunday with a 5-1 matinee loss against the Blues.

Buffalo, meanwhile, played a home-and-home with the Toronto Maple Leafs, losing 5-3 Friday, and 3-2 Saturday.

What We’re Looking For?

A win. I mean, obviously losing preseason games isn’t exactly Game 7 of the Stanley Cup, but the Jackets haven’t looked particularly great — again, these games are more about guys finding their games and giving inexperienced players a crack at something bigger. But it’s national TV, Columbus already faced, and lost, to Buffalo. Let’s see what transpires.

Also, the roster is beginning to take shape in the form of cuts from camp.

With this being Preseason game six of eight, these games start to get a little bigger for players looking to make an impression and the NHLers fine-tuning their game for opening night next week.
