Opening Night Quick Takes

It was deja vu as the Blue Jackets drop the home opener 6 - 3.

What happened:  The Blue Jackets squandered leads of 2 - 0 and 3 - 1, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Bright spots:  Wennberg & Foligno were the best of the bunch, and put together some dangerous plays.  Wennberg’s goal was a beauty, and Foligno’s set-up of Cam Atkinson for a power play goal was a thing of beauty.

Low spots:  Plenty, but the turnovers and overall sloppy play after the first, and missed assignments in their own zone were devastating.  Loss of composure was disappointing.

Quote:  Coach John Tortorella: “We were sloppy, tentative right from the first  . . . don’t try to put this on the young D[efense], it went right throughout the lineup.”

Full recap coming in the morning.
