It’s official: Columbus Blue Jackets trade Pierre-Luc Dubois to Winnipeg Jets for Patrik Laine and Jack Roslovic

After being benched on Thursday night on national TV against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Pierre-Luc Dubois’ situation finally crossed a line with the organization. With rumors swirling, and effort levels waning, Columbus Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen’s hand was forced and he was propelled into action.

This morning, the Columbus Blue Jackets traded their now-former third overall pick and and disgruntled first line center to the Winnipeg Jets for Jack Roslovic and Patrik Laine.

Dubois played 259 games for the club, never missing a game due to injury in his time here. He scored 66 goals and registered 93 assists for 159 points. He leaves Columbus with a career high of 61 points, averaged 17:20 of ice time per night in his time here, and finished eighth in Calder Trophy voting his rookie season.

As for the players brought in, Patrik Laine was a former second overall pick. He has 140-110-250 in 306 career games. Jack Roslovic signs a two year deal to come to Columbus and has 26-41-67 in 180 games played.

There will be more in the coming days as we break down this trade. Stay tuned to The Cannon for further coverage!
