Foligno was away from the team on two separate occasions this season, both due to medical emergencies for his young children. First, his five year old daughter Milana had to have heart surgery. Second, his one year old son was in the intensive care unit with a collapsed lung. Both children are recovering.
Through both health scares, Foligno managed to captain the Blue Jackets to the playoffs for a third season in a row and to a first round upset over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Foligno posted 17-18-35 this season.
Congratulations to Nick Foligno on being nominated for this award!
