Nick Foligno named captain of home team at 2015 NHL All Star Game
Nick Foligno and Jonathan Toews are your All-Star Captains
I think we were all hoping for this- Nick Foligno has been named captain of the home team, now known as Team Foligno, for the upcoming NHL All Star Game. Jonathan Toews will captain the other squad.
Joining Foligno as assistant captains are Patrick Kane and Drew Doughty, while Rick Nash and Ryan Getzlaf will be the assistants to Toews. It's interesting to see Kane and Toews split up right off the bat, while Nash is a fitting member of the "away" team.
Foligno will be in charge of selecting his squad for the All Star Game, at a fantasy draft on Friday, January 23rd. He and Toews will alternate selections until all of the All Stars have been selected. I'd be absolutely shocked if Foligno's first pick was anybody but Sergei Bobrovsky.
Foligno will also serve as the de facto host of the event, a role I'm sure he'll excel at.
