NHL Playoffs Open Thread

We had a couple requests for this as the season wrapped up.

Last night:

-Montreal capped off a crazy SIX GOAL 2nd period to hold on for the 4-3 win over Ottawa.

-The Islanders dominated the Caps from start to finish, winning that game 4-1.

-Chicago went down 3-0 in the 1st period, pulled Corey Crawford, and stormed back with three goals of their own in the 2nd period before heading to overtime. Your #bucciovertimechallenge winner was Duncan Keith, his first career playoff overtime game-winner. Big question for the Hawks – who to start in net for game 2? Scott Darling stopped all 42 shots he faced after replacing Crawford.

-In the late game, Calgary scored a pair of 3rd period goals for the comeback win over Vancouver, 2-1.

On tap tonight is the other four series:

-Pittsburgh and New York highlight the early action, at 7 pm (Eastern) on NBCSN.

-Detroit and Tampa Bay get started at 7:30 on CNBC.

-Out west, Minnesota is at St. Louis with puck drop at 9:30, with NBCSN picking up coverage (after Pens/Rangers end I’m guessing?).

-Winnipeg and Anaheim are the late late game at 10:30 on CNBC.

USA picked up coverage last night, which helps those of us without NHL Game Center and/or the NHL Network.

Our playoff predictions are here. All of us apparently like the eventually SC champion to come out of the East. We have 56 registered in our Bracket Challenge Group.

On the CBJ front, John Davidson held a call with season ticket holders last night. If you were on the call, feel free to post the summary here.

If you’ve missed anything from our Season in Review series, check out the stream here. We’ll be wrapping that up this week before moving on to offseason news.

Dan and Matt had a “post-mortem” podcast. Give it a listen here.
