Must See Monsters Home Games; 2017-18

*Hello, Monsters Fans! It’s been far too long. Thank you, for being patient with me while I threw myself into my internship with the Akron Racers this summer. My first post back will be short and sweet. We’ll get into the nitty gritty stuff later. I’ve missed you all. Let’s kick this season off!

As the beginning of the season nears, the urge to buy tickets rises. While the ultimate goal is to buy full season tickets to your favorite team, it may not be a feasible reality. So, I compiled a list of games to help make your single game ticket purchase a bit easier.

The Cleveland Monsters will kick off the 2017-18 season against the Rockford IceHogs on October 7th. Regardless of how the season before ended, the home opener is always electric. The mere fact hockey season is starting always gets my blood pumping.

In a delightful twist of fate, the East Bank Bacon Festival is taking place the same day. That’s right, a bacon festival is taking place the day the Monsters play a team whose mascot could be turned into a delicious piece of meat.

Every team in the conference will see regular season playing time against the Monsters during 2017-18. The San Jose Barracuda (10/21, 10/22), Ontario Reign (10/27, 10/28), Stockton Flames (2/21, 2/23), San Diego Gulls (3/24, 3/24), and Tucson Roadrunners (3/2, 3/4) will enter Quicken Loans Arena this season. The Reign and Monsters last met during the 2016 Calder Cup Playoffs. In case you didn’t know, the Monsters dominated the 2016 Calder Cup Playoffs sweeping three of their four opponents. The Reign was one of the teams swept by the Monsters on their way to Calder Cup glory.

On December 8th and 9th, the Monsters play host to the Chicago Wolves. At first glance, this may not seem like a “must see game”. However, this will give fans a chance to see the Vegas Golden Knights prospects in action. Plus, if T.J. Tynan doesn’t make the NHL, the Wolves will be his landing spot.

You can never go wrong with a game against the Grand Rapids Griffins. Since they see each other less this year, they’ll have to pack more aggression into each game. I would suggest going to the last home game of the series on February 4th, 2018. They play two games earlier in the week and will likely be tired of each other by the end.

The last home game of the season, April 13th, is against the Manitoba Moose. There was no love lost between the Moose and Monsters last year. Sixty minutes of pure intensity will quite possibly ensue.

A chart of the home games for the 2017-18 season is below.
