Moore headed back to Springfield

After playing in one game, and sitting in the press box for five more, John Moore finds himself back on a plane to Springfield today, to get back into game action with the Falcons.

While it’s frustrating for those who wished to get a better look at the 2009 first round pick, and to see if he might be another impactful callup like Grant Clitsome or Matt Calvert, the remarkably improved play of Anton Stralman has made Moore’s presence less critical, and it can be argued that just getting to spend some time in Columbus and on the road with the main club will give Moore a better understanding of what the team will expect from him should he be called up again later this year, or at worst, when training camp starts next September.

Though D-man Rostislav Klesla is not yet ready to rejoin the club after a knee injury just prior to the all star game, the team is getting healthier, with LW Ethan Moreau ready to step back into the lineup, and it’s possible that this move, in addition to getting Moore back to playing regular minutes, is to open up a roster spot once Moreau is taken off of injured reserve, particularly if the team expects Derek Dorsett to rejoin the team after his neurological test later today.
