Monsters Mash: Touchdowns and Applesauce

Record: 3-3-1-0, 7 points, .500 win percentage,  4th Central, 9th West

The Cleveland Monsters played host to the Ontario Reign this weekend. They split the series but Tyler Motte stole the show.

In Friday’s game, Motte scored his first professional hattrick. The Monsters would go on to beat the Reign, 7-4. That’s right. The Monsters one-upped the Cleveland Browns and scored a touchdown.

The next afternoon Motte scored the lone Monsters goal in their 2-1 loss to the Reign.

Transactions

Cam Atkinson was placed on IR after getting banged up in the Columbus Blue Jackets loss to the St. Louis Blues. In need of a replacement, the Jackets called Tyler Motte up to the big show. Motte proved his worth scoring a goal in the second period of Monday’s game against the Boston Bruins.

After the game, Coach John Tortorella eluded to the fact he wasn’t ready to give Motte up anytime soon.

On Monday, the Monsters signed Terry Broadhurst to a 25-game PTO. He is the brother of Alex Broadhurst.
