Monsters Mash: Recalls and Historical Meetings

Record: 2-2-1-0, 5 points, .500 win percentage, 5th Central, 11th West

The Cleveland Monsters played the San Jose Barracuda for the first time in franchise history this weekend. This was also the first time Roy Sommer coached in Cleveland since the Barons moved to San Jose.

The Monsters took home three of four possible points.

Tyler Motte scored three points in the Monsters 4-1 win over the Barracuda on Saturday. Alex Broadhurst literally sacrificed his body to stop a play during this game.

Sunday wasn’t as kind to the Monsters. They would lose to the Barracuda in the final two seconds of overtime.

Transactions

Brady Austin was signed to a 25-game PTO on Saturday. He was at training camp for both the Blue Jackets and Monsters.

Monday was a bit of a busy day for the Blue Jackets transaction wise. They recalled Jordan Schroeder from the Monsters for the sole purpose of putting him on waivers. Shortly after, Lukas Sedlak was placed on IR forcing the Jackets to recall Markus Hannikainen from the Monsters.

Nick Ellis, goaltender of the Bakersfield Condors, was named the CCM/AHL Player of the week. He led the Condors in back-to-back victories against their rivals the Ontario Reign.
