Jim Corsi, Carey Krug Join Blue Jackets Organization

Earlier today the Jarmo Kekelainen announced the addition of Jim Corsi and Carey Krug to the Columbus Blue Jackets organization.

Corsi will be the goaltending development coach for the organization. While, Krug will step behind the Cleveland Monsters’ bench alongside John Madden and Steve McCarthy  as assistant coach.

Why does the name Corsi sound so familiar? He established the advanced stat the “Corsi Rating”. For those of you who don’t know, the “Corsi Rating” measures shot attempt differential during even-strength.

Advanced statistics isn’t the only thing Corsi is known for in the hockey world. He helped lead Italy to eight World Ice Hockey Championships in the span of 10 years. Corsi also played a bit for the Edmonton Oilers and the Quebec Nordiques.

Most recently Corsi was the goaltending coach for the St. Louis Blues (2014-17).

Krug comes to the organization from the United States National Team Development program. He also is the director of player development for the Detroit Hockey Academy.
