Jackets Rise In Week 1 Power Rankings

Part 2 of CBJ Blog Roundtable week will be continuing later today at The Dark Blue Jacket, but until then, check out the Jackets’ bump in the power rankings from various media sources today.

(SBNation will also be publishing their NHL power rankings later today, and we’ll update you when they come in!)

Columbus Dispatch: 17 – Big statement from coach Scott Arniel that Mason is back to his rookie form. Guess here is it will take a couple weeks for fans to believe, too.

ESPN: 20 (Up from 28) – A huge effort against San Jose in the second of their tilts in Stockholm, as they collect two points with an overtime win to even their record at 1-1-0.

CBS Sports: 26 (Up from 28) – Hello Columbus. Steve Mason comes home with a .921 save percentage.

EDIT: The SBN Ranking is now in: 11th in West (up from 14) – While Carolina was the only team able to jump across the pond and win both NHL Premiere games they played in, splitting isn’t a bad result either — especially playing those two games against a team like San Jose. The Jackets get a worthy bump for that reason.

No rankings yet from TSN that I can find.

It’s early, but it’s nice to see some confidence bumping up a little.
