Jackets make 8 more cuts

With Springfield’s camp set to open tomorrow, the Jackets have made 8 more cuts, 5 of them for Springfield and three players being released from tryout agreements.

Oliver Gabriel, Anton Blomqvist, Steven Delisle, Dalton Prout, and Brent Regner have all been assigned to the Falcons. Gabriel had the option to return to Portland as an overager, but it would seem he’s chosen to begin his professional career.

Aaron Bogosian, who is signed to a contract with the Falcons but attended Jackets’ camp, has been cut and is expected to return to Springfield, while Traverse City invitee Adam Payerl has been released and will return to Belleville of the OHL, and ATO invitee Trevor Ludwig has also been cut.

This brings the Jackets’ training camp roster down to 40 players, including three injured players – expect another 10-15 cuts over the course of next week, and any players unable to go for opening night to be placed on the IR list. It wouldn’t surprise me to see additional cuts after the game against Buffalo tomorrow night and Washington on Monday, allowing the final two games vs. Minnesota and Carolina to be “tune ups” for the opening night roster.
