Jackets Draft Winger Daniel Zaar 152nd Overall

The Jackets didn’t have a pick in the fifth round, but with the first pick of the sixth round they went back to Sweden, choosing winger Daniel Zaar from the Rogle organization.

Based off of his stat line from last season, he seems like an offensive winger. In a combined 51 games on Rogle’s Junior and U-18 teams last season he had 20 goals, 30 assists for 50 points.

There’s not a lot of info about Zaar out there at the moment, outside of his profile from Elite Prospects.

It remains to be seen what his future plans are, and whether or not he ends up like past CBJ sixth round picks Marc Methot, Cam Atkinson, Allen York or Dalton Prout. On the other hand, he could follow the path of sixth rounders Rob Page, Kirill Starkov or Artem Vostrikov.

Here’s hoping the Jackets have found another late round gem.
