Per Aaron Portzline of the Dispatch, the Jackets have cut 10 players this morning.
Forwards: Trevor Frischmon, Chad Kolarik, Oliver Gabriel, Matt Calvert.
Defensemen: Theo Ruth, Cody Goloubef, Brent Regner, Jon Sigalet, Steven Delisle
Goaltender: Daren Machesney
Calvert, Kolarik, Delisle, Goldbeef, Machesney, Regner, and Ruth have all been assigned to Springfield, while Frischmon and Sigalet will need to clear waivers.
Gabriel was released from his tryout contract and sent back to Portland. No word on if the team will try to sign him to an entry level deal.
I’m not really shocked by any of these, but I am a little surprised that Goloubef is heading to Springfield while Nick Holden stays in camp. I know Holden got a goal last night, but I generally thought Goloubef had been one of the better guys in the pre-season games on the blue line.
I’m also a bit surprised that Gabriel wasn’t signed to a deal before sending him back to the Dub, given the way he performed, but perhaps something’s still in the works.
