Highlight Recap: Toronto Maple Leafs at Columbus Blue Jackets
Let us try this again.
After Monday’s debilitating defeat, you either had a nowhere to go but up mentality or, what else can go wrong? attitude.
Toronto Maple Leafs at Columbus Blue Jackets. Let's do this.
1st Period
After a feeling out process through midway of the opening frame, Lukas Sedlak beat Curtis McElhinney to get the Jackets on the board first. Advance the puck up ice, work down low, chip to the front and voila.

They can make it look so easy.
That goal was three seconds off from being a shorty.
#CBJ forwards had eight shots on goal in the first period tonight vs. #Leafs, matching their full-game total in Monday’s 7-2 loss to #Bruins

2nd Period
In the second period, Toronto cut the lead in half. William Nylander scooped up the loose puck from Gabriel Carlsson from behind the net, in turn, feeding the cross-ice pass to Jake Gardiner. Joonas Korpisalo, trying to recover to his right side, overcommitted, leaving too much of the left side of the net open.

Columbus worked five shots on goal their first power play, and converted their second chance. Cam Atkinson found the puck on his stick off a shot that ricocheted off the boards, and Atkinson left it for Pierre-Luc Dubois who tapped it in for the goal. It’s consecutive games for the Jackets on the power play.

3rd Period
Up 3-1 entering the third period. Can they finish?
Yeah. They finished. Now do it again. And again. And...
Alexander Wennberg stayed hot and netted the fourth goal. The play came about off the faceoff in the other end and developed along the boards. Boone Jenner made a hit on Connor Carrick along the boards, knocking him out of the play, and Carrick breaking his stick.
Meanwhile, Jenner got the puck to center as Atkinson and Wennberg finished the threat. Wennberg has a four-game point streak, and five points total (2 G, 3 A) over that span.
Toronto got one more when Mitchell Marner scored late. A nice individual effort up ice.
