Here’s what just happened.
The Columbus Blue Jackets traveled to Pittsburgh for the second time in a week to take on the Pittsburgh Penguins. They would face the Penguins without Brandon Dubinsky and Zach Werenski; the Blue Jackets also lost Alexander Wennberg to a back injury as well as Cam Atkinson to a broken foot.
First Period
Sonny Milano scored for the first time in 20 games, and Boone Jenner scored his first in 16 games as the Blue Jackets raced out to 2-0 lead.
Second Period
Conor Sheary got one back for Pittsburgh before Artemi Panarin’s latest disgusting move extended the lead to 3-1 late in the period.
Third Period
An Artemi Panarin goal was not enough as two late goals allowed Pittsburgh to take the game to overtime.
Overtime
Pittsburgh had a goal disallowed for goaltender interference. In the shootout, Malkin and Crosby scored for Pittsburgh. No one scored for Columbus.
