Highlight Recap: Arizona Coyotes at Columbus Blue Jackets

After an impressive final 40 minutes against the New Jersey Devils Friday night, the Columbus Blue Jackets wanted to pick right back up with that play against the Arizona Coyotes Saturday at Nationwide Arena.

You could say that happened.

First Period

Less than one minute into the game Josh Anderson delivered his team-leading 11th, and the scorching Artemi Panarin assisted on his sixth-straight primary goal in two days.

The Jackets are 12-3-1 when scoring first which bodes well. It was the first game in four, since Dec. 1 against the Ducks, that the Jackets scored first.

Shots:
11-10 Arizona

Scoring:
Josh Anderson G
Artemi Panarin A
Pierre-Luc Dubois A

Second Period

Sergei Bobrovsky and Antti Raanta. ‘Nuff said. The Jackets’ penalty kill also stayed par for the course, killing off another one. Through two periods, Pierre-Luc Dubois and Brandon Dubinsky were a combined 18/20 from the faceoff dot. Following a lead through 40, the Jackets are 10-1.

Boone Jenner led the game with five shots. Jack Johnson was the ice-time leader (16:50).

No goals.

15-10 Columbus

Third Period

In the third, the key point of the game basically befell Columbus and the second-consecutive double-minor in as many days. Panarin sat with 3:07 left because of a high-sticking, and holding call, on Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Doesn’t it feel like the Jackets find more offensive chances on the kill as opposed to the power play? Anderson had another chance but was just denied in front.
It didn’t matter. Despite a final push from the ‘Yotes, Columbus leaned upon Goalie Bob for the shutout win, his league-leading fourth.

Final 1-0 CBJ
Shots:
13-9 Arizona

Additional Notes:

Bread is sensational. Dubinsky dominated the faceoff circle (16 of 23, 69.6%). Anderson is great. And, oh yea, Sergei Bobrovsky leads the league with four shutouts.
