Garret Cockerill Inks AHL Contract with Cleveland Monsters

The Cleveland Monsters announced the signing of defender Garret Cockerill to a one-year AHL only contract.

Cockerill started the 2017-18 season as an alternate captain for Northeastern University. Thirteen games into the season, Cockerill left school and moved back home to Michigan where he would play a few games for the Kalamazoo Wings (ECHL). On January 11th, 2018, the Monsters signed Cockerill to a 25-game PTO and put him in the lineup immediately. By the time February rolled around Cockerill began meshing with the team and could be paired with any other defender. He knows how to use his body to break up plays without getting overly physical with opponents. At the same time, Cockerill is not afraid to get in your face if you take a swipe at his teammates.

In 40 games with the Monsters, he notched three goals and 11 assists.

This will be his first full pro season.
