Luke Hughes
The youngest of the Hughes brothers has also now become the highest paid of them, after signing a 7 year, $9M AAV contract on October 1. What? He has potential, sure, but if his name were Luke Smith would he get such a big investment so soon?
His season so far is making me feel like an idiot, as he has four points (all assists) in two games. He averaged 45.5 points in his first two seasons, and at age 22 could be poised to make a big leap from that now, if he gets the minutes.
Jackets Notes
Erik Gudbranson left Saturday’s game early, with an “upper body” injury. As of the time of writing, it is unknown how this affects his status for tonight’s game.
The Other Bench
The Devils are finishing a three game road trip to start the season. They lost 3-6 at Carolina on Thursday and won 5-3 at Tampa on Saturday.
