Game Thread 76: Columbus Blue Jackets at Detroit Red Wings

Columbus Blue Jackets (24-44-7, 55 pts) at
Detroit Red Wings (45-25-5, 95 pts)
Joe Louis Arena, Detroit, MI

What have we learned? The Jackets are officially the worst team in the league. They got absolutely RUN in the second period yesterday by the second-worst team in the league. The RAN a mediocre-at-best team from the East on Friday night. They’re probably tired; third game in four days. Detroit needs points; they’re sitting at fifth in the Conference (which would mean no home-ice in the playoffs, which is where they’ve been dominant all season). Also, the Red Wings officially clinch a playoff spot with a win tonight. They’re playing at home, where they’ve lost only a handful of times all season.

Does this sound like a recipe for a Jackets’ win?

Nah, not to me either.

Nevertheless, they play the games. Every team has to play all 82. Expect basically the same lineup for the Jackets tonight, with Steve Mason starting after getting the hook yesterday. For as good as he was on Friday night, he was equally bad yesterday. Good times.

Enjoy the game!
