Game Thread 73: Chicago Blackhawks at Columbus Blue Jackets

Chicago Blackhawks (40-25-8, 88 pts) at
Columbus Blue Jackets (23-42-7, 53 pts)
Nationwide Arena, Columbus, OH
Tuesday, March 20, 2012 – 7:00 PM EDT

The Jackets meet the Blackhawks for the final time this season tonight, and it’s no hyperbole to say the previous five times have not been–how you say–good. They’ve held Chicago to under five goals only once, and have given up six twice. Columbus has only scored more than two goals once. It’s been brutal.

Viktor Stalberg has been especially potent, with nine points (8G, 1A) in five games. In 11 career games against Columbus, he has 10 goals and an assist. Sheesh. Let’s see if we can slow him down tonight, maybe.

The Jackets are without James Wisniewski, who took that blocked shot off his stick and then off his face, and is suffering from a concussion. Curtis Sanford is also out, having apparently torn his left quad in Sunday night’s game. Allen York has been recalled to serve as Steve Mason’s backup, and David Savard has been recalled to take Wiz’s spot. The Hawks will most likely be without Jonathan Toews, also battling a concussion.

Enjoy the game tonight!
