Game Preview

Here we go, folks.

The Columbus Blue Jackets come home to Nationwide Arena tonight, and they do so sporting their first ever series lead – the team is up two games to none against the Washington Capitals.

These are not your father’s Columbus Blue Jackets, folks.

The Blue Jackets have played resiliant hockey these last two games, coming from two goals down in each of them. The team has taken penalties, put themselves behind the eight ball, and yet they have managed to overcome all adversity to take a lead in their series. Tonight, they come home to their fans and look to take a three game lead in their best of seven series.

Momentum is on their side as they come home. History has not been kind to teams that lose both games at home and fall behind 0-2, but the Jackets – the team that has never won a playoff series – are only halfway there. There is work to be done, one game at a time.

Andre Burakovsky will not be in the lineup for the Capitals tonight – he suffered a hand injury on Sunday and did not make the trip to Columbus. In addition, the Caps are expected to turn to Braden Holtby in net tonight. Holtby, mainstay and former Vezina winner, has struggled this season but will be expected to save the series after Philipp Grubauer struggled in games one and two before being replaced Sunday night for the third period and overtime.

The Blue Jackets will have a morning skate today, so we will know more about the Blue Jackets’ lineup then – specifically, will Sonny Milano come out of the lineup after playing just 5 shifts in a 71 minute game.

Go Jackets.
