Game Preview: Into the Storm

Columbus Blue Jackets at Carolina Hurricanes
Tuesday, January 10, 2017 – 7:00 EST
PNC Arena, Raleigh, North Carolina
TV: Fox Sports Ohio; Radio: WBNS FM
Game Faceoff

The Columbus Blue Jackets take the ice in Carolina tonight in their first matchup of the season with their Metro division rivals. Carolina started out the season terribly, but has built some nice momentum over the last month or so of the year. The Blue Jackets cannot afford a let down on the ice.

Tonight also marks the first game with Anton Forsberg on the bench backing up Sergei Bobrovsky. I imagine he will get at least one start on this road trip, but tonight is not that night. Sergei Bobrovsky will, in all likelihood, get the start. Columbus plays Carolina 3 times between now and January 21 – winning all 3 is critical. These are games Columbus, on paper, should win.

Cam Ward will probably get the start for Carolina – he’s started their last 16 in a row. Other than the backup netminder position (which we have covered in full), no lineup changes are expected for Columbus.

Go Jackets.

UPDATE, JANUARY 10, 1:15 PM

Per Torts, Bobrovsky is sick. Anton Forsberg will start tonight. Joonas Korpisalo has been recalled to serve as his backup tonight.
