Game Faceoff/Preview #66 – Blue Jackets at Flyers

Columbus Blue Jackets at Philadelphia Flyers

Saturday, March 5, 2016 – 7:00 PM EST
Wells Fargo Center – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
TV: FSNOH – Radio: 97.1 WBNS FM
Opponents’ Blog: Broad Street Hockey

I have some family coming into town today, so there won’t be a chance for me to sit down and write a preview later on with rosters. So, here are your scorching hot takes from me at 7 AM or so.

The Jackets looked… OK? last night against Edmonton. I didn’t think they looked great, per se. The one thing they did well was answer every time Edmonton threatened to make it a game. Six goals is always nice, though I think we all know the quality of the backup goaltender for Edmonton. It’s, how you say, bad.

The bad news for Columbus is that it looks like Brandon Saad won’t make the trip, per John Tortorella post-game last night.

The Flyers are clinging to the ninth spot in the East right now, five points behind Pittsburgh and in a dog fight with Carolina and New Jersey. Wouldn’t it be extra nice to continue the recent dominance of Philly and put an even bigger dent in their playoff chances?

Scott Hartnell, in case you missed the 932 references on the telecast last night, is sitting on 299 goals. 300 in Philly would be a nice treat, no?

On to the game…
